I am mainly focused on setups, re-strings, electronics and hardware services. For a list of current service offerings, please see the Services page.
Additional services will be added over time and once I’ve completed some renovations on the workshop. If there’s something you are wanting to get done that isn’t listed on the services page, please reach out and we can discuss it. -
The prices listed on the website primarily cover the labor of the service, as well as any consumables (shrink wrap, solder, cleaners, polishes, etc). This is a flat-rate labor charge.
Materials such as strings, pickups or other hardware are not included.
There may be additional charges involved if the nature of your instrument means the task will be more difficult or take more time. Some examples are if the strings need to be removed to access a front routed cavity, or if the electronics can only be accessed through an f-hole. These charges are listed on the services page whenever applicable.
All pricing will be disclosed prior to the work being performed. -
I offer a few different discounts for select groups. Please see the discounts page for further details.

When you come in to drop off your instrument, you should have the following:
A hard case for the guitar.
The trem arm, if the guitar is equipped with a tremolo bridge.
Strings, unless you are buying strings from my stock. Please discuss this with be prior to arrival.

I aim to have setups and restrings completed for next-day pickup. I may be able to get it done same day depending on current bookings, but this needs to be discussed in advance.
Other services will depend on what’s being done and if there are any shipping delays.

For open work orders, how ever long it takes to complete job.
Once a work order has been completed, I ask that you pickup your instrument as soon as you are able, ideally within 7 calendar days. My storage space for instruments is limited, so this helps keep things moving.
After 14 calendar days, the instrument will be taken to an off-site storage facility and a storage fee of $5 per day will be applied until the instrument has been retrieved, or until the 90th day. On the 90th day, if the instrument has not been picked up, the instrument will becomes property of Oak City Guitarworks and will be sold off to cover the balance of the work order. No storage fee is calculated for the actual day that the instrument is picked up. -
This program is pretty straightforward - I provide several local musicians discounts, and they help with some simple marketing. They’re under no obligation to only say good things about my work.
Part of the arrangement though is that if you attend one of their shows in the Raleigh area, they’ll have cards available at their merch table that offer a healthy discount on guitar setups. There will often be free stickers as well.
There’s no formal application process for this program at this time. If you’re interested in possibly joining, let me know and we can discuss it to see if it makes sense.
