About Me

Hi! I’m Steve Gillespie, the owner of Oak City Guitarworks and the tech that would be working on your instruments.

I’m a multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years of experience as a musician. I currently play guitar in PNLTYBX, and have played guitar, bass and drums in several other bands in Raleigh and Wilmington, NC. Regardless of the instrument, I’ve always felt that understanding how your instrument works and how to set it up properly is every bit as important as how to play it.

But as we all know, it’s not always practical to do your own work. Sometimes because we don’t have the time to do it, other times because what needs done is outside of what we’re able to handle.

And that’s where I hope to help.

I want to help you play your best. Most practically, that means high-quality workmanship, fast service times, and fair prices.

I offer appointments for instrument drop-off and pick-up as late as 7pm Tuesday through Saturday, For setups, I aim to have them ready for pickup by the end of the next business day. Same-day service may be available as well if you can drop off the instrument early enough.

Setups aside, I’m equipped to handle just about any issue you’d have with an electric guitar. So rather you just need routine work, want to re-work the circuit in your instrument, repot your pickups, or swap your side-dots out with Luminlay dots, feel free to reach out! If I can’t do what you need done, I’ll tell you as much up front.
